Apollo employees have raised £1000 for Simon’s Heroes, a local charity dedicated to raising money for local children with life limiting illnesses.
The money was raised through the Apollo ‘Fit Club’, an employee-led club set up in 2016 as a way for the individuals to lose weight in the run up to Christmas. The individuals pay each week to get weighed, with an extra fee if they put on any weight. One member, Rita Owen, also raised a significant amount through giving up alcohol for a month – something many people didn’t think she would be able to complete!
Claire Humphries, Fit Club organiser, comments: “The club chose Simon’s Heroes as we wanted to support a local charity that really makes a difference to the local community. We were blown away with the work that Simon’s Heroes do, and are excited to get involved with some of their weekly training sessions and fundraising events.”
Apollo has also chosen Simon’s Heroes as our company charity for the year. We will be raising awareness and fundraising, encouraging employees to raise money for Simon’s Heroes through a range of activities – more information can be found here.
